What to do about Pittsburgh?

Well, as we had feared, some of our destinations seem to be falling through. We knew we were taking a chance when we scheduled Pittsburgh on Sunday, as both East End and Penn don’t advertise any Sunday hours. We thought that the chance to be part of our little tour might be incentive enough for them to be available to us, but we received this very nice note from Scott at East End yesterday:

Sounds like an ambitious trip! Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate you here on a Sunday. Not only is it illegal for us to be open on Sundays without a special permit, but it’s our only REAL day off all week long, and that time spent with our families is generally considered off-limits. Besides, we need to carve out some time to DRINK beer each week.

Sorry I can’t be more accommodating.

Cheers,
Scott

Completely understandable and totally respectable, to say the least. While we haven’t heard back from Penn’s Tom Pastorius, I’m not too hopeful there if Scott’s mention of a special license holds true for them as well. Barring a miracle we’re down to two locations on Sunday; both primarily dining establishments. If anyone out there following us knows of somewhere in or near the ‘Burgh that a) is open on Sunday; and b) is worth visiting, we’d sure appreciate the tip!
